I'm new to the forum and had a quick search but couldn't find an answer elsewhere...I've got a Worcester Heatslave 20/25 combi oil fired boiler... it's about 2-3 years old and was working fine when we moved in 18 months ago... but recently it has stopped working properly...
back in april it cut out a couple of times... I reset the thermal cutout switch and all was well again for a couple of weeks each time... when summer came along there was no demand (or very little as we use an electric shower rather than the hot water) so problem did not really rear it's head until now... it's been getting a bit chilly in the mornings so I thought I'd switch the central heating back on... fine for about 2 mins, then I can't hear the burner although the pump seems to be working overtime. the pipes inside the boiler are all roasting hot and the pipe that leads out of the boiler is hot, but nowhere else even gets warm.
I was wondering if the system needs bleeding (there have been a few glugging noises going around the house) or if there is a blockage somewhere meaning the heat doesn't go very far.
Same thing happens with central heating and hot water (ie after a couple of mins, the pump is whirring away, but no sound of oil being burned) so problem has to be shared on both systems.
and yes, there is plenty of oil! If I reset the thermal switch I get the 'whoomph' as the burner kicks in... so i assume the oil is getting to the burner.
Thoughts apreciated! would like to get this sorted before winter comes with avengeance!

The primary is present in almost all boilers and uses heat from the burner to raise the temperature of water within the system.
